The transport company will introduce a simpler way to buy a 10-minute ticket and will introduce a maximum daily spending limit

Press release
4. 9. 2025
From 8 September 2025, the Hradec Králové Transport Company will introduce a new method of purchasing 10-minute non-transfer tickets in public transport vehicles at self-service ticket readers. Passengers will no longer have to choose a ticket in advance when boarding, but will be able to obtain a short ticket by simply attaching a card or other ticket carrier first when boarding and then when alighting within 10 minutes. Hradec Králové public transport is also introducing a new price cap for electronic piece tickets. Regardless of the total number of purchases of individual electronic piece tickets made during the day, passengers will always pay the maximum value of a full-day ticket. That is CZK 100. Fares, the time coupon system or the types of ticket carriers remain unchanged.

„It is very good that the transport company is constantly improving its services and systems. The new way of buying short tickets, which are widely used, will certainly make check-in easier,“ says Deputy Mayor for Transport Ing. Miroslav Hloušek. From 8 September, passengers will notice in particular that the option to purchase a basic and discounted ticket for 10 minutes will disappear from the ticket displays. However, this ticket is still available. It is just the process by which passengers purchase it that is changing. So now, when boarding the train, the person who wants to buy this short ticket will always just attach their payment card or a registered carrier with credit loaded on it. This means, for example, a City Card, a QR code from the Client Zone, a Chip Tag, a registered payment card or a Chip Card, etc. This will purchase a basic ticket for 60 minutes. If he/she subsequently gets off within 10 minutes of the journey, then he/she simply attaches the same carrier or ticket to the reader when getting off. The system will then change the price to the value of a short basic ticket worth CZK 14. Payments by credit from the account have worked before and will continue to work in the same way. Newly, all other unregistered carriers will be added.

„In addition to simplicity and speed, we also expect the new system of buying short tickets to be more naturally fair for passengers. Exit marking will clearly and transparently indicate when a passenger plans to get off the bus without speculation at the time of boarding.“ says the head of tariffs and tickets Ing. Josef Januš.

With the new rule, the option to purchase a 10-minute ticket for a companion ends. And the discounted short ticket can now only be purchased on a card associated with a verified registered account that qualifies for the discount.

If a passenger buys a ticket carrier for one ticket during one operating day in the on-board ticket readers for an amount higher than the value of our day ticket, the system will now set it to CZK 100. This is now possible thanks to the evaluation of all tickets of a given day at 1:00 a.m., which reduces any extra amounts to the stated value. This could be appreciated by tourists, for example. So-called "top-up tickets" are not included in the capping. That is, those purchased via the button for selecting another ticket.

The introduction of short ticket purchase by marking the exit for unregistered cards and capping the daily spending has completed the project of the current ticketing system for the purchase of tickets in Hradec Králové public transport.
